Corporate Coaching
Some corporations develop a reputation for having an "Eat ’em up, spit ’em out" mentality. This less than complimentary phrase obviously refers to a company who normally expects their employees to put in long, exhausting hours to the detriment of the rest of their lives. When the toll becomes more than the employees are willing to pay, they seek employment elsewhere. From hiring to quitting, the employee effectiveness in these companies shows a pattern. The new employees’ productivity initially increases while both their learning and the number of hours spent at work increases. Next creativity and productivity reach a peak while at the same time their lives and bodies begin to feel the strain. The employees soon begin a spiral downward as they go from birthing original ideas to simply coping. Where the stress presents itself next varies from employee to employee. An out-of-balance life may begin to erode the employees’ health or relationships with co-workers or significant others. The toll on the employees is obvious, yet in the interest of productivity, the toll on the corporation may be ignored. Employee maturity and retention is one of the most obvious costs. But the most significant cost may be while the employees are still coming to work and yet functioning far below potential.

When corporations provide coaching that includes life balance for their management they are investing in optimal performance from them for the long-term. While health insurance provides for illness, coaching for balance essentially addresses wellness. Ultimately wellness contributes to both corporate and individual success.
Personal Coaching
When you find yourself putting more of your time and energy into working and you experience the stress of neglecting activities and relationships that are important to you, it is obvious that your life is out of balance. But balance issues don’t always arise from your career; perhaps you are caring for your new baby or an aging parent. Our bodies, souls, and minds are designed to be fed in a variety of ways, and when you ignore the basic need for balance, you begin to starve. Balance does not require spending equal amounts of time at certain activities, but simply choosing how you want to spend your time to include what is important to you.

Coaching explores your beliefs about work and play and challenges the beliefs that interfere with the balance you want to create. The steps to balance are clear. It starts with envisioning a life based on your values, then planning the strategy to create that life. The steps on the road to balance need simply to be taken. Coaching provides the focus and accountability to make it happen. Balance is the most effective stress reliever and the key to significantly impacting your world.
